I'm doing some cleaning up and found an old Michigan highway map and guide. It has no date so I can't figure out when it was made. In looking at the list of advertisers, it has motel rooms such as--
St. James Hotel, Ann Arbor, modern,$1.25-$1.50, where you'll feel at home.
At those kind of prices, I would guess the early 20's ?

The 1942 State Farm Insurance road atlas does not list the St.James Hotel. The room prices for other hotels are the same. Look to see the name of the catographer and perhaps the date will be by the name.

Might be a census listing - like Detroit 1930 census 2,000,000 - or some such tucked away in there.

I agree - the prices indicate somewhere between the late 20's to the early 1940's. I have several AAA, ALA and Automobile Blue Books from the 1920's to around 1941 - none list a St James Hotel in Ann Arbor, but that doesn't mean much.

Still a treasure to have. I have a pretty good sized map collection going back into the 1930's - they are packed away and I've not the inclination to go dig them out. Maybe tomorrow.
