Question - Front door "S" weather seal
On my 54 Special Sedan, just above the top front door hinge, there is an "S" shaped piece of light medal that has 3 eyelets for sheet metal screws. This retains the door weather seal in that area. I have ordered and received from KGAP the "S" weather seal, part no. 138. It is a much larger item than the original seal that was on my car. Does this larger one replace the original, is it an update or what? By using the larger one, it appears that the aforementioned metal retainer cannot be used and the S seal would have to be cemented in place.
If it makes any difference, the doors on my restoration are off of a Hornet, not the Special.
Thanks for any guidance you can provide,
Doug

I am pretty sure it is just glued in place.....no need for screws or metal piece. I have a set installed on another car and it should fit fine (will compress a little after use). I just ordered one too, along with a slew of other items for my Hollywood. Did you just receive yours recently?

If I'm visualising what your talking of, the metal piece you have was molded
into the old seal. And yes , the new one's have no visible way to mount them.
As the previous poster said glue should work.

The way it was set up, the original door weather seal extended down the door to the top of the door hinge. The metal piece held it in place. So I guess my question is which is stock?
I received the new "S" pieces about a week ago.

Roger, no, the metal piece was not molded into the rubber, it simply held the door weather strip in place.
