Thanks Dave for sharing your amazing restoration. Last week I was down a little because I want to work on my 54, got a 53 for parts and do not even have a garage. Have to rent two and one is 150 km away. Here in Quebec, no Hudson can be found anywhere. So, I must consider myself to be very lucky to have two. Could not take the chance to miss it. But looking at all the pictures and all the comments, I feel quite better now. I will take it one day at a time and check all I have to do before beginning so as to be ready. And when I will begin, I am sure there will be a bunch of Hudson Guys to comment and help. Thanks again Dave and keep up posting the pics!0

It took me a couple of days but I got a picture of the gas line a little to the side of the gas tank. You can see a piece of rubber hose about 4" long. This piece was put on to take some of the pressure off the steel line. Their is no solder at the tank. The line is bolted to the tank. Thanks for your comment.0

The trans has been rebuilt, cleaned, painted and is ready to be put in the car.0

Rick, have the clutch ready to go. Have it soaking in oil for two days and will have it ready to put into place this week.0

Finished most of the "woodgrain" work on the dash. Applied a brown base coat. Then sanded the shine of the next day. Applied a coat of Min-wax mahogoney gel with a 1" brush laid flat against the metal. Then applied two coats of clear the following day. Buffed it out to a shine. Still have to do some more buffing before it is finished.0

A couple more pictures. Sorry the "look" of the woodgraining is not showing real good on the pictures. It is much more pronounced than it appears.0

Are you going to paint the steering column with the same brown base coat or something different?

I "woodgrained" the steering wheel. The steering column got chromed. Little expensive but really looks good.0

Wow what a plain looking Dash Hudson had then. You got to admire simplicity sometimes though. On a dash like that woodgrain adds to it.0

The dash in the car was "woodgrained" when I got it. Actually, my '38 Sedan parts car also had a woodgrained dash. We cleaned them up back to the bare metal and went from there to where it is now. Again, I wish my camera picked a better image of the dash. The picture shows the shine but not too much of the "look". As always, thanks for your comments.0

Sorry I have not shown any pictures lately. My computer went kaboom and I cannot get any pictures up. Got the motor and trannie put on the frame today and have made quite a bit of other progress. Will get some updated pictures up in the next few days. Dave0

Awesome! Fantabulous! Inspiring! That engine looks especially sweet sitting in the frame, and good thing those lenses cleaned up that well, huh? Thanks Russell. Soaked the lenses in white vinegar for about 20 hours and then scrubbed them down. They came out pretty clear. Dave0

Thank you for your comment Paul. Unfortunately I broke my heel Monday so it looks like I will not be able to work on the car for several weeks. The plans were to get the fenders and grille on this week. That is obviously not going to happen for a while now. Dave0

Looks like I might get by without surgery Rick. Doc said it would take about 12 weeks to heal. Scheduled to get a 3D x-ray tomarrow to give him a little better look at the area that was damaged. Dave0

Sorry to hear about that Dave. Do as the Doc says, and stay off of it for as long as they say. You don't want any future problems with it, and the car will be there when you're ready to get back on it. Speedy recovery to 'ya!!0

Junior got the front fenders on without my help yesterday. I have no idea how he was able accomplish it without my help but he got it done. Will try to get by the shop today and take a few pictures. Dave0

I always look forward to your updates(pics), but please be careful. Four weeks ago a friend fell and broke his right heel. While using crutches, he went to let his dog outside and fell and tore his right rotator cuff and bicep. He now faces a a painful surgery and rehab.
Please be careful!!!

I picked up my radio from the local TV/Radio repairman today. Will try to get a picture of it up in a day or so. He turned it on
believe it or not it works great. He converted it to 12 volt, changed out the antenna plug to a standard plug in and charged nothing more than a hand shake. I told him I would give him a prominent place in my restoration album.0 -
Both bumpers are now on the car. Will now try to get my helper to get the guards on.0
