Florida's not very close, but there's a '36 block and a complete engine for sale there. Drop me a note if interested, and I can put you in touch with the seller (or try a search here for prior threads ... I think it was on the forum a few months back).
  • Thank you gentlemen, I have passed the word along.
  • Your quite welcome ,tell your friend I'm near St.Louis as is the motor.

  • Just so I know you have heard it - there is a world of difference in the '36 block and the '37 block; particulary in the manifolding. The bottom line is you will not be able to fit the manifold and exhaust pipe from the '37 engine into the '36. You won't be able to install the '36 manifold on the '37 either. I know they look the same, but they aren't.

  • Is that when they changed the shape of the exhaust ports? I know some were oval and some were round . I thought the didtributor was moved around the same time
Also was'nt it? I'm not real familiar with the older engines, but was told this was a 37. I never researched numbers or anything ,

'37 thru '39 have the oval exhaust ports, but the distributor remained on the passenger (right) side of the block. In 1940 they moved the distributor to top rear of the engine.
  • Thanks Allen- in looking through the 30 to 39 parts book, it looks like 36 was a transition year. It shares a few parts with 37, quite a few with 35, and some are 36 only. The good news is I found a good 36 block about 2 hours away.

Roger if you send me the casting #'s I'll look then up for you.

    Thank you everyone that replied!!!
