Temperature sending unit

I'd like to replace the temperature sending unit in my 1946 C8. Is there a NAPA part number for these?

    My P.O. had used an incorrect sender, the gage didn't work at all. These guys knew exactly what was needed for my car, inexpensive, and now my gage works perfectly

    The temp gauge works by measuring the change in electrical resistance in the sender as the sender heats up. I tested a stepdown sender recently and from memory it went from 60 ohm cold to 90 ohm hot. Don't take those figures as gospel, the point I'm making is that the sender operates over a fairly small range, and if you have one with a range that's much different, your gauge won't even know that its there.

    So as you say, just because the sender screws in the hole, it doesn't mean its the right one.
