blowing 6 volt flasher cans
I was continually cooking the flasher can in my indicator system,Autoelecticians confidently pronounced a mysterious short that they would charge large $ to hunt down, all to no avail and several return trips.I checked the indicators and replaced the 18 watt globes, using the 9 watters i happend to have lying around.
Fixed the problem! seems that the 18 watt globes were drawing too much current through the can and burning it out.Hope this info can be of use to someone else.

I had the same problem with my '54 Hornet Special. After pulling my hair out for a week or so an old timer came up ...looked under the hood and said. If you can't see the problem, I'm not going to show you! I finally found that the hood release cable had gotten loose and was shorting out the right turnsignal wire at the terminal on top of the radiator support. I was looking for some complicated problem when It was so simple...........I just couldn't see the forest for the trees. MANY THANKS to the old timer. YOU know who you are.
