Just took the Hornet for its maiden drive! Hot Damn that felt good. 7 months of hard work paying off. Now, am I buzzed from the beer or the swiss-cheese exhaust? :)

Isn't that a great feeling, getting it rolling down the road under it's own power... and stopping too! Now you have to build trust as you travel further and further away from the safety of the garage. Butterflies and Panic are all a part of it.

Quick pic of the car returning from a successful trip 'round the block. Check my profile for more pictures of the car.
  • You said you had more photos so I looked. What is the Carb/Manifold setup you have on there?

Rochester 4GC from my Chevy truck on a 4-to-2 bbl adapter from Speedway. I knew the 4GC worked, and didn't feel like spending $50 on a carb kit for the 2 bbl. $15 bucks for the adapter. Scrounged everything else to hook it up. Runs pretty good, and now that it's running I can get a proper check on the sparkplugs. I thought it might do OK on the 308 since it really wasn't enough for the 327 it came off of.

    FYI

It looks like its coming together for you. I like your creativity and your valve covers.
  • I'm glad that you got everything running. I always felt that it was a good car, just didn't have time to do anything with it. Congratulations!

Thanks again for the opportunity to purchase it Larry.

I wish the weather would stay nice a little longer so I could take it for another spin tonight. Looks like rain/snow the rest of the week. Nuts...
  • It looks real nice, keep up the good work,

very cool! i have to admit, i enjoy a old one coming back to life as much as a totally restored one. i guess they just seem more real and atainable, or maybe it's just i have never had a profecional restored anything.

Just looked at the pics, very cool. What radiator did you use? Looks like a very solid car.

70's Dodge B200 Van, it's a 2 core though. I mixed up the order, but rolled with it. Works great and I have a nice electric fan from a previous project mounted up too. I really like my over-flow though, an empty 5th of gin. It's the little things. :)
  • The Gin bottle did'nt go un-noticed , part of the overall effect.
