Nice looking. Unemployed + really far away = no bids from me.
Good luck, I hope it sells.0 -
Dave,
I saw that listing last night when I will going over the 900 items listed on ebay. That would sure be a nice addition to my 50 Hudson but Mama said I had to sell it (the 50 Hudson that is) or I would be contacting you...0 -

Good for you! Smart man.0 -
Hey, now that I'm retired, I'm a "kept man"!! No mama = no keep & I'm a firm believer in what you know is better than what you don't know in this regard. She does understand that the Essex (got in 1965) does predate her by 3 years & needs to be treated accordingly!!0

Notice how easy it is to blame someone else for what we are doing? I have 4 Hudsons and other collector cars. I just do not have room for them all. My wife mentioned that if I sell the Hudson I can use the money for a new truck. Sounded good to me.0

mmmmm, Maybe we jumped to conclusions . . .

my wife says she likes the SuperWasp better than me,something about embarrassing her in public.LOL. J.R.0

Hmm, then your not just looking to break even then... Nuts!0 -
Even more shameless self promo:
I live near Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It's a 90 minute drive from Buffalo. I have a 308 nearly rebuilt (original sizing, no overbore) with new rings, bearings etc. The head is off, one ring needs to be replaced, but otherwise newly rebult and probably ready to spin. I COULD put in it my 47 Super Six, and/or I could hold it and finish it off and put in a new Stepdown purchase in the future, or I could sell it to an enterprising person in Northeastern US for a reasonable price,
If you get your asking price for the rebuilt 308 will probably finish the work on mine and then post it for the same.
Also have a twin carb manifold.0 -
This one has been on Ebay for several months. Looks like a good deal with the twin H and exhaust manifolds on, along with an oil filter and trans adapter plate with starter.

Lots of bargains out there. Anyone that has RECENTLY REBUILT. I don't mean FRESHEN, a Hudson engine, knows how high the rates have gone. I notice that Dave Kostansek no longer offers rebuilt engines in his ads in the WTN.No doubt because of the cost involved. consider parts, machine shop labor, then add some $ for your time and the money invested until sold.. and if you are a business man, some warantee risk. Not to mention a little profit (which is not a dirty word) ...OUCH!
As the old saying goes "Today's high price is tommorows bargain".
I afraid that most of us older Hudson folks are living in the past. We can't seem to accept that old Hudsons are not selling for $500.00 anymore. I have decided that I will get my investment back or just sit on it until I do. It doean't cost anything to sit in storage and ..unlike kids and wifes.. !! doen't need to be fed..It also lends a little class to the shop . LOL
"Live in the past, It's cheaper"0 -
My wife looks at me rather  when I talk about my Hudson "investments"0
-
That one on e-bay looks nice but buying an engine from someone unknown is somewhat of a gamble. At least with Dave, we know where he lives and we can take his cat hostage.0
-
Of course, this is the real bargain...perhaps the real "market".

Did I post this right?0 -
Dave,
if you put antifreeze into it and find a way to get it to my place without charging an arm and a leg, I would be very interested.
Kind regards from Germany

Mike, Im think we should consume the antifreez ourselves..much cheaper! and more fun... LOL:cheer:0 -
No wonder so many Hudson blocks are cracked!0

Yep, She is hoping I will sell the ElCamino. I have too many cars and not enough room to park them.0 -
Bring it over to my place and leave it - I'll take care of it for ya . . .

I just searched the net for the different antifreeze solutions and found out that until the end of the fifties manufacturers were actually mixing regular alcohol into the antifreeze - instead of today´s polyethylene or polypropylene mixes.
That - of course - explains it all, Dave!
Cheers
