What gauges would you add...?
I have a 1952 Hudson Hornet. I DO NOT want to modify the dash, but I am considering adding a couple discreet gauges below. Options I can think of are a Tachometer, Oil temp, Oil pressure, Water temp, ...
What gauges would you add to better keep an eye on your car's health?
Thanks for pondering my hypothetical question with me?

I plan on at least adding a tach, water temp (I hate gauges w/o numbers, I'm looking at you Ford), volts, oil pressure, and vacuum. I hope to fit as many as I can in a custom plate where the clock used to be, or maybe make a whole new bezel.0

Thanks for the input.0 -
I like to keep clutter to a minimum while having the critical info available. My vote is for voltmeter and oil pressure gauge only. With underdash real estate that includes A/C air outlets and a control panel, it's bad enough!0

Been driving old cars my whole life--well, some were new when I started driving them and I see no reason to have all those gages making a mess of my original dash board. Let me give you and example. I added one of those gages that tells me how much voltage my generator is putting out. I did not disconnect the "idiot" light--as some like to call them. I noticed when I turned on the key the light came on-the gage sat at "0". As I started moving the light went out--the gage went to +2. After a while I took the gage out and figured the light told me all I wanted to know. Do not see much use in all the information it just gives me more to watch and figure out...l.0

I agree with Park. If you were to add a third, it would have to be a Water Temp gauge. those three are all you really need.0

Yeah . . . Who needs a tach, if I hear parts flying out the bottom - It's goin to fast !

It's a moot point whether you fit a volt meter or an amp meter. Personally I prefer an Amp gauge, so I can see what is going into the battery. I have fitted an oil pressure gauge and amp gauge to my Hornet and Jet. You already have a water temp gauge in the dash. I see little point in fitting much else, apart from the sake of idle curiosity. A vacuum gauge will assist in economy driving and tuning perhaps, but otherwise the idiot lights tell you whether the essentials are working.0

As always, I appreciate the great response from the community :woohoo:0

To each his own, I like having as much information available to me as I can. Of course, I do lots of research for a living so, for me, I can never have enough data.
Don't get me wrong though. Gauges can't be stuck anywhere. There needs to be method to their placement.0
