Bidding is up to $72.00 on this 1948 Hudson factory tour brochure...

Anyone have an idea as how rare or hard to get these are? I may bid higher depending on what you experts know..... what are these worth?

I do understand that HET offers a reproduction but original is nice for car shows (depending on the price). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1948-HUDSON-original-FACTORY-TOUR-phamplet-brochure-47_W0QQitemZ4589345055QQcategoryZ10076QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

  • Just when you think things are rare another one shows up. It seems the price is what you are willing to pay. I find you cannot use ebay as a guide to what stuff is worth. I have bought stuff on ebay and overpaid because I wanted it. I have also run into deals when I have been giving boxes full of Hudson stuff for ten bucks. I am sure if you miss this you will see another.
  • 51hornetA is right - I recently bought a very, very nice 1932 Essex Super 6 owners manual off ebay. A little minor staining on the upper left corner of the front cover and a few small holes in the top of the rear cover - looks like it might have stuck to something. Paid the roaring impossible sum of 99 cents for it - nobody else bid. Go figure.

Niels did you ever get a response from anyone on whether these cool brochures were that rare? I haven't heard anyones opinion on the copies available from HET? Are they color on nice stock or scans?

I would think these would be readily available at a national Hudson meet or show? I was thinking maybe 50-75.00 would be a fair price - but someone really wanted that one.

If they really are that rare - I'd be up for buying one and having it re-printed in full color and selling them!
  • Hi Dan,

Never got a definitive answer but I am sure that they are scarce at best. I'll let everyone in on a big secret.... I have found some outstanding Hudson ads (the art work is incredibly bright) in Collier's magazines from 1948 (or whatever year magazine your Hudson is). These magazines are the same size as Life magazines... large! There is one that is a two page fold out and is the size of a poster. It is so nice that I framed it and put it on the wall.... Best part is you can find these weekly magazines on e-bay starting at $3.50 each. Just e-mail the vendor and ask them to check for any Hudson ads. I got responses back from every single person.

These ads are not only for the 1948. I have seen the 1949 stepdown advertised in the 1949 issues. I also know that there are Hudson ads from the magazines of the 30's and probably the 50's.

Also, one of the magazines I just bought has an article on the Hudson company itself. I'll post it when I get it and forward a copy to HET.

Here are three pictures of the ads. The foldout is huge... the picture does not do it justice!http://groups.msn.com/HudsonEssexTerraplaneBulletinBoard/nielshudson.msnw?Page=2
