Who else made aftermarket aluminum cylinder heads for Hudsons. I know about Edmonds, Offenhauser & Clifford, but did anyone else ? Edelbrock ??

I think I read somewhere that someone down under made aluminum heads. But I could be mistaken about that.

I had only heard of Edmunds and Clifford- are you sure Offenhauser made them? May need to add that to my ebay search. . .
  • I know of an Offy head on a big Hornet in Buddy Bardwell's old dirt track racer. He had the car at the Auburn national a couple of years ago. I think he has a 357 cube in the car now, but has a bigger one in his garage. He told me that he had an offy head years ago & was able to convince them to make a small run for him about 20 years ago. The nice thing with the offy head is that it says HUDSON cast into the top of the head.

  • I do remember the Clive Gibson head and actually saw one in poor condition when I was on the HET Aussi trip a few years ago. It was a 2 piece design and looked like it might be prone to leaking. And I do know about the new head that is in process at this time.
I was mainly interested in any other "vintage" brands from back in the day.

The 2 piece heads were done by Clive Gibson in association with Frank? Kleinig, I think they are marked Kleinig Gibson. The 2 piece heads would be very flexible unless the 2 halves were really well screwed together. The patterns do still exist for the head and I think also an inlet manifold, in Sydney I last heard.

There is one of those 2 piece heads in the US, I remember someone over there saying they had one on the forum a few years ago
  • We remember seeing the 2piece head in Australia in 2004 also. We were at a HET meet with the Aussies. A really nice meet, good people and good food. Thanks for reminding us. Bob P

Hudson Motor Co. offered a two piece (top /bottom) high compression head for the '34-35 Terraplane 6. It had, of course, a gasket in the middle. I owned a couple of these decades ago but don't have a photo. But that was the way some early Terraplanes went racing.
