It appears to be the same one that was auctioned in N. CA last week. Looks to have the same seat covers and the same steering wheel. I believe that one went for around 10,500 (I forget the exact winning bid).

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. I think you're exactly right. Be nice to make a quick 10 bills, but nicer to have a restored '49 Commodore Cv., IMHO ;)

51-53 steering wheel and shaft. Hydra-matic, Hash engine..30+K miles? I don't think so!Something funny about the dash wood grain in the center.. I really don't like a continental on any stepdown prior to 54, just me I guess..Seat covers or wrong upholstery? I do have to give someone credit for using a bumper that does the job! Packard?

Yep, trying to make a quick 9K without doing a thing to it except listing it. We'll see how it goes . . .

That rear bumper used on this car is '46-48 Chrysler with the LONG wrap around. There was an early continental kit installation company in Los Angeles that did connie kits in this manner using this bumper. A bit of history there as I haven't seen one like this in decades.
Any possibility this was owned new by some Hollywood celebrity? Such a person would have also had the money to do the Hornet power upgrade if they liked the car and kept it a few years. Just a thought.
Also, the VIN on this car indicates it was a '49 Commodore 8. Are y'all saying a rust free '49 C8 convert isn't worth some money? I mean none of you bought it at the auction under $11,000 so what is this car really worth in HET-ville anyway?

If the car was on the east coast within 1500 miles I would pay 10-11K.If it had the original 8. Maybe a couple $K more. Knowing I would have some serious restoration work to do . I would want to put it back to original, so the modifications are a negative to me. Others would disagree and like the "upgrades". I don't have a problem with that, since I have an "upgraded 49 sedan. My goal would be to make it original. The unrusty part is a very good selling point.
