'36 Terraplane parts
Anyone out there have info. on any '36 Terraplane parts? Currently looking for Radiator ornament part number 116823 for 61 and 62 models for my pickup after an unfortunate accident. Also would like any info. on someone who might be able to repair this kind of pot metal die cast part. Thanks, Mark.

Good luck in your search, Man. I have seen a few grille parts, including the ones you are looking for, for sale on ebay a couple of times. Most of the owners of the '36 T-grille think they are gold, but sometimes they are reasonable. If you are patient and keep looking they will come your way...slim0

I picked up a good one of these 3 weeks ago on French ebay for 19 euros,so they are still out there.
I also repaired a broken one, there are people out there who CAN weld diecast, they just dont want anyone to know it,as it is fiddly and fragile, and they make more money doing other stuff. When it is rewelded, make sure they solder in long u-shaped bits of wire under the weld/break,other wise it wont have any strength and it will break again.I also had one of these cast in brass, which was quite succesful, the script "terraplane' will have to be gone over by an engraver, but its pretty good and a lot stronger than pot metal!
Dont let em tell you it cant be done, thats what i was told, then i went and found people who could do it.Diecast, even this ridiculously thin and fragile part,IS repairable.0 -
Mark,
Tell us a little bit about your 36 truck project. What have changed from stock?0 -
Best I know for pot metal repair is Paul's Plating in Evans City, PA. Not cheap, but very good. www.paulschrome.com0

My 36 is pretty much the way I got it, with alot of cleaning and detailing, polishing etc... I have recently sent off the bumper, wiper parts, flying carrot holder and hardware for repair and replating. I have also just completed turn signal/brake light conversion with magnetic towing lights under the rear so they can be detached at any time. The truck came with a 42 hudson motor installed, but the rest of the drivetrain is original and works great!I enjoy driving it around town, in local parades, and its been to 2 car shows so far. For now its just a cool driver that I've been fixing or correcting things on as I find them. Would need quite a bit more work to look as nice as the one in your picture Scott. Thanks for the interest. Mark0
