Good luck. I do stepdown convertible registry and there is a total of twelve 1950 Commodore 6 and nine 1950 Commodore 8 convertibles listed as owned by club members in the United States and one in Sweden. I know of none for sale.:(

In addition to Dave S.'s post above, don't get discouraged, though. If that's the car you have your dreams set upon, then your best bet is to join the HET (Hudson Essex Terraplane) Club, if you haven't all ready. With membership, you will obtain the club Roster, which will give access to owner's of said convertibles.

My suggestion is to give each of them a call, and inquire as to the availability of their car, or to suggest a further lead on a comparable candidate. Many times there are cars in need of restoration of being used as parts cars that are (these days) actually restoration candidates, and are not listed in the Roster or the Registry. Keep in mind that you are more likely going to find a restoration candidate than you are a finished example for sale.

Additionally, keep an eye out on the auctions, Hemmings, E-Bay and specific internet postings for these cars, they do come up for sale once in a while.

I have known many folks who kept up with specific cars and their owners for years and years, expressing interest in buying their car, and eventually ended up with the opportunity to purchase them. Persistence pays off.

Lastly, network with EVERYONE, get your name out there and your wants. Eventually, that "once in a lifetime" opportunity just might come to fruition.

I know, I'm currently restoring my dream, a '52 Hornet Convertible.
