Does anyone know anyone in central Florida who is an expert on overdrives? I have a 49 Commodore that I need some help with. Tim

Possibly if you could state your problem (with as much information as possible) we could hazard some guesses as to what's happened. Many overdrive problems are simple electrical problems. The mechanical portion of the overdrives are usually not the source of problems.

I'm not an expert, but may be able to help you out. I am in Cape Canaveral for month.
  • Jon - Just before I converted the car to 12v the overdrive stopped engaging. Rather than fix the problem, I had the car converted the 12v had the relays replaced and put in a 12v solenoid. The OD would still not engage. The OD push-pull cable worked and the transmission would free wheel but not engage the overdrive. I read of some guys who had wired around the relays directly to the solenoid and tried that. The solenoid clicks but no overdrive. The first time I tried it I heard a grinding sound. So I'm not sure where to go now.
