A friend with a 1938 Terra is looking for a NOS or good drag link, pitman arm and steering arm (the other end of the drag link). Also has anyone improved the spring loaded oil seal on the pitman arm. Regards, Barry ozhudsonatgmail.com

If you don't find one, I have one from a 39 LWB which is probably too long, and I probably have one from a 49 stepdown. What is the length. Which arm does he need, the one on the steering box?

It's gonna be a while 'till this 2 feet of snow melts 'till I can get to it.

Uncle Josh, these are for a RHD vehicle so would be different to what you have.

I have told Laurie, if he gives me the number stamped on the arm etc I'll check what I have here.

Thanks Uncle Josh. We have seen photos of the snow in Lead, South Dakota. You are lucky you only have 2 feet. Laurie wanted the arms/parts on both ends of the drag link. The later pitman arms have a different shape. Im not sure if the spline on the later ones is the same and can be used. We will get back to you if reqd. Les, Laurie says the pitman arm part number is 30591. His ball is approx 0.110" out of round. These parts would be hard to re-manufacture. Regards, Barry

There are processes to retrieve an out of round ball, metal spray then re-turn. Not a cheap process, but then it will be hard to find a good RHD item, most of the Australian ones will have been round the block a few times.

    FYI
Like Bob Ward mentioned there are spray filling methods that work well to restore worn parts but Ive seen gouged pitman arm balls filled with bronze brazing rod at home then filed round and lasted forever. I wonder what is wrong with the drag link that cant be repaired... Ive bent drag links back to shape after rubbing wheels many times with no problem. After awhile I welded an angle iron underneath to keep from bending.
I do have a NOS steering Arm for an older Terraplane if that may work? I may also have a used one since I put R&P on mine.

Sorry, forgot RH Drive Car so mine may be useless parts

Thanks Todd. Ive been told that LHD cars are different to the steering parts on RHD cars. Interesting comments recd re repairing the balls. Thanks everyone. Barry
