Ah, I'll guess he's got a 7K reserve on it.
  • I think alot can be told by how an e-bay ad is written. This guy sounds like a gentleman and I betcha the car is NICE. Niels

  • Wow. Nice looking car. I love the colors, too. Niels is right . . . the description is well written and the owner sounds like a good guy. My guess is this car should go for between 12,000 and 13,000, although being in California, my experience so far is that E-Bay cars from California generally have a higher reserve than the rest of the country.

Good find for someone . . . they should end up with a very nice car.

Anybody know anything about the dry disk clutch the seller speaks of? Is this a good idea?

There is nothing wrong with a dry clutch in a Hudson - the 55/56 and Jets had them - as long as it is properly done. The main thing here, to make sure you have a trouble free installation, is to have a thicker flywheel turned up and fitted when the swap is being done.

If you have a look at a wet Hudson flywheel you will see that it is a fair bit thinner than a comparable dry clutch flywheel of the period. Heat and warping considerations mean a dry clutch needs a thicker flywheel. Hudson could get away with the thinner flywheel because a wet clutch runs way cooler than a dry clutch.

That's not to say a standard Hudson flywheel won't work at all with a dry clutch, for gentle driving it may be OK, but be prepared for serious clutch shudder if you do a lot of hill starts
