Battery Tenders
I have the original type battery tender connected to my battery. the battery is still in the car and connected to the car. I have found small puddles of water (acid) around the caps, is this normal. I never noticed it before and I checked the caps and they are tight. Is the Tender going bad and not shutting off when the battery reaches full charge?
I took the Hudson out for a quick run to lube every thing up since the roads were dry and free of salt and I did not hook the tender back up. But I will have to watch that the battery does no lose it charge.

When a battery is charging it gives off hydrogen gas, the reason for the vented caps, it combines with oxygen in the air and forms water. This is what you are seeing on top of your battery and is normal.0

When you see acid around the top of the battery, it's because it's being over charged with high voltage, and the water boils. Better check the charging rate coming out of the charger, 6 volts, max 6.7 to 7.2 and 12 volts, max 12.8 to 13.2. Yours is over charging. Walt.0
