Re my 54 sedan, on the front door ventilator wing window, the crank type, how is the wing attached to the regulator, pop rivets or a screw of some type? It's been so long since I took it apart I can't remember.

Thanks,
Doug

  • Fortunately for you (unfortunately for me), I pulled my '51 vent wing on Monday. The ventwing shaft is flat where it slips into a slotted yoke on the gearbox shaft. A machine screw threaded through the whole thing ties it all together.
    Good luck!

  • Jon, I think we are talking two different things here or our cars are different. The shaft is attached to the regulator and fits through a slot in the window frame. Attached to the shaft at a right angle is a flat piece with two holes in it. This flat piece will lie in the bottom of the window frame. Those holes are used to fasten the window frame to the flat piece. Question is what is used to fasten it, rivets or screws?

    Doug,
I replaced my gears in that unit a few months ago. The whole thing is held together via rivets. I simply drilled them out, and replaced with short screws afterward.
    Hope this helps
