Rear turn signal light
I am installing turn signals on my '37 Terraplane, series 71, with a single rear light. I have not been able to locate a right-side taillight. I have about decided to mount lights on the rear bumper, possibly chrome motorcycle lights or hot rod lights, but I don't want to use anything that would invite scorn or ridicule.
I have also considered using Brand-X tail lights from the same period.
I would appreciate any advice or comments,
Thanks

:cheer: I am putting '39 Chevy tail lights on my '37 Terraplane. To use as turn signals. They will be mounted up on each side of the trunk just rear of the quarte window. That style of tail light was used into the early '50's on chevy panel trucks and look period. I have a pair of NOS back up lights that I will put on either side of the grill for the front turn signals. My '37 has both tail lights and I know there is a housing somewhere in my stash. Hope this helps. Arnie in Nevada.0

I used a set of 1934 Hudson script can tail lights (I guess I do not have a photo of back of my English Hudson) and made a bracket and mounded them on the bumper. My 36 English Hudson does not have standard Hudson tail lights (they are the English bar style light) and they look period correct. I also elected not to have the big after market turn signal on my column. I went with a toggle switch that is mounded on the bottom of the dash next to the column. Push it left for the left signal and right for the right signal. My front fender lights have been rewired to be directional signals for the front.0

Arnie, is your taillight housing for sale? Please email me: billn34@comcast.net0

You may already know this, but if you can obtain the original type right-side taillight for your '37, you can use the existing 1-bulb taillights as turn signals (without adding further lights). Just use the 6-wire (or is it7-wire?) Hudson turn signal switch, which will fit your steering column perfectly. This employs the brakelight filament as a turn signal.
Then, if you don't mind cutting a small hole in the side of the steering column jacket, you can fasten a "canceling cam" (a simple hose clamp) around the steering shaft, and your switch will be self canceling. The Hudson signal switches come with a metal raceway that neatly routes the wiring down the side of the shaft and under the dashboard.
You'll still need to add front turn signal lights, of course.0 -

Dave, thanks for the pic, I have thought about something like this, using a Brand X light. Are the light housings Terraplane?
I am not familiar with Eshelman, and Google was no help. How can I locate them?

Those are brand x lights on his, but I am using original Terraplane lights the same way on our 36 panel with Terraplane lens.
I would guess they used K-gap light and lens. K-gap at one time had the compete light with plain lens for around 45.00 each, you can check with them and see if they still have them. Kgaphet@aol.com
Eshelman's are club members who have reproduced several Hudson gears, lens and other items. You can email Myrna or Gene at eshelman@ruralnetwork.net0
