oil filter plumbing

I am installing a fram oil filter canister assembly on my 1955 Hornet 308 engine.Can someone tell me the correct way to plumb the oil lines to the canister?

    The upper port on the filter canister should be plumbed to the upper port on the block.

    The lower port on the filter canister should be plumbed to the lower port on the block.
