8 Volt battery
Installed an 8 volt battery in my 54 HH. When you first start driving the amp light flashes and you can hear the volt regulator ticking but after a short while the light go's out and no more ticking is thier a way to adjust the voltage meter and solve this problem.

Why did You go to an 8 volt battery? I have always used 6 volts on my 54 HHS and as long as I keep the connections tight and bright NO problems at all.
Sorry, Just wondering.

my 6 volt was dead and I had the 8 volt as a stand by.0

Sorry to tell you, but your 8 volt battery will revert to 6 volts, as the generator is set to 7-1/4 volts, and the battery will drop down to this voltage and stay there unless you have a charger that will go to 9.5 volts. You could re-set your regulator to this, but you are likely to cook things if you do. The light is staying on until the battery and generator voltage equalize.0

8 volt batteries create more problems than they solve, fix what's wrong with the car and get a 6 volt battery back in it or convert to 12 volts!0
