Check out page 48 with Steve & Bea holding their "Ugly Duckling." This could end up in the front seat of your car some day....

First class, m'boy, first class all the way!!!! It's the ONLY way to go. Hey, look, man. I'm living on $2500 a month with half that going for rent and support payments. If I can find money each year for First Class then anybody should be able to!!!!!

I've been interested in the vapor lock issue for some time. Obviously, having your system set up properly is key, and Walt's books are great guides. That said, contributing factors to the problem are altitude and gasoline volatility. Gas, alcohol and everything else evaporates faster at higher altitudes. (Less air pressure on the surface of the liquid) Add ambient heat, and problems arise. I live at 7,000 feet. Norm Blackmer rebuilt my '40 carb with high-altitude jets. (Since there's a minimum of vacuum to move the vacuum advance, the timing is advanced considerably, too.) Members coming east on I40 will be running at 4,000 feet + from Flagstaff through Oklahoma, cresting at 7,000 or so a couple of times, notably when climbing out of Albuquerque to Santa Rosa. Of course modern fuel-injected cars and trucks have computers that make the necessary adjustments.

As for volatility, today's gas is much more volatile than it used to be, so it evaporates faster. Thus the suggestion to add diesel or Marvel Mystery oil, which makes the gas less volatile.

However, if it's high and hot when you pull over for a pit stop and your baby won't start, open the hood and go back for another coffee. Things will cool down, and she'll go. :cheer:

The shrink wrap protects just fine, but it was a bit of a hassle to remove. Any suggestions? How about a pull string, like they used to put on the old Band-Aids? (Of course, that string never worked...)

I always liked the old resealable WTN bags, 'cause I could use them to store lettuce in my ice box (being basically a cheapskate).

Not worth the additional expense....It gets to me about a week earlier and it's already LATE....Why spend the money.

Oh I'll take $1200 a month after EXPENSES.......And I bet I'm NOT the only one.

My WTN just arrived and what a surprice to see the front cover has my friends Mark & Nellie LaBouef's 46 Hudson PU and 1946 all Aluminum camper trailer. Way to go. Actually Nellie claim the truck as hers. Can't wait to read it all.

Well, I've got a problem already, and I haven't even received mne yet. I used the ziplock bags to put eviction papers in to tape to the door, so they don't get wet. You mean now I've gotta buy my own? Thats just sad. . .

So would I - but that's $1200 AFTER I pay rent and support payments. That leaves me $1200 to pay the bills and buy food and gas. Bills run close to $900 so that leaves me about $50 a week for groceries.

Any object, preferably a jack knife or kitchen knife, will poke a small hole in the shrink wrap and then it comes off very nicely.

But maybe Jon isn't to be trusted with sharp objects.

Lee: Next time you see Mark... tell him the Hudson guy who lived in Victorville in the early 1990s and drove the Green Wasp ... Says HI! We were both friends of Bob Hackel, At the time Mark's nursery was a few blocks from our house.

When I got home from work yesterday I found mine in the mail. Beautiful truck on the cover and a great publication as always. As for the wrapper, yes I'm cheap and used the old ones to hold things also, but the new one is fine, I found a hole in the wrapping and used that to start the rip to open it.

    And thanks Sam!

I still like the zip lock version.I like to use to put Hudson paper memorabilia in them. They are a little stronger than the new ones.
