Talking About 46-47 Coil Springs...

I replaced my coil springs in my 46 super 6 about 2 years ago with ones I bought from Kanter. My car oringinally came to me with a 262 in it and it sat the way its supposed to. I switched back to a 212 and noticed that the front of the car sat about 4" higher than it used to so I decided to replace the springs.

I also bought shocks from Kanter front and rear. Walt M. came for a visit and said the springs should settle down after a while. They never did and the shocks that Kanter sent for the front had like an inch of travel with my son and me standing on the front bumper. I removed the shocks to see if the springs will settle into place. What shocks do you guys use for the 46 super 6 on the front? The rear ones seem fine. Thanks,

Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
When I replaced the front shocks in my truck I used NAPA p/n 5801. I hope this helps.
  • Thanks for the reply. I think I am going to replace the coils again with originals for the 6 cyl car and see how it sits with the shocks from Kanter. The ones I have are just making the car sit way too high. I will keep that # for the shocks. Thanks again,

    Jeff

you could have the car weighted on scales at a suspension shop they will then know what the weight ratio is on the car and then they could recommend springs and how many pounds they should be and shocks for all 4 corners

just a thought, did this to my coupe and what a difference to ride and handling it made
there is a mathematical equation they use which considers the torque etc
cost me 20-00 NZ$ or not much at all your money
