Weaving of the fabric for my 52 Hornet
Next week my Hornet will be on a truck bound for Dr Doug in IN. In the meantime Jan, my weaver, is finishing up the fabric. I have posted a short video of her weaving on my blog. If you look close, you can actually see the blue stripe fabric that will be in my car. It is awesome to know the knowledge and effort that went into it.

Michael,
By contracting with Jan to weave new upholstery fabric, I believe you have raised the bar. Good Job... thanks also for a new resource for all of us.

New resource? Is Jan willing to continue producing yard upon yard of the material to sell to others? If so, how many of us are willing to pay what this labor intensive work costs? THAT is part of why it has not ever been done previously. The other part is that there is no judging in HET so blue crushed velour or a perfect reproduction material both get the same number of judging points: none.0

I am not sure Jan is willing to continue, but I am open to sharing her e-mail with anyone interested. This is the first automotive fabric that she has done, and it took extensive research and experimentation. Her other projects tend to be be historical recreation and art. The cost for me is actually in the ballpark of what SMS charges for their 52 Hornet "match", so I was quite lucky to find her.
I love my Hornet and I think it was fantastic the way it rolled off the assembly line. I am not rich, but I am doing my best to keep it as close to original character as I can. Just for the interior, it has taken me two years to get the fabric, a year to find and schedule time with Dr. Doug, and blind luck to get RL Chilton to do my woodgrain.0
