37 crank gear casting
The casting # on this crank gear is 150566.
Is this for matching the fiber gear or has it been changed out to match the aluminum gear?
Also noticed that the aluminum gear that came off the cam does not have a "tit" to fit into the notch on the cam flange.

From the looks of the picture you can see that the counter sunk motor plate screw has been changed. This says that an aluminum gear was used on this engine, and that the plate was relieved to clear the base of the aluminum gear. Walt.0

That is the gear for the 14 1/2 degree fibre gear, the number for the Aluminium gear is (off the top of my head) 166310, the aluminium gear pressure angle is 20 degree, when you change to Aluminium gear both gears must be changed. I notice that the engine plate has been modified with the counter sunk screws for the alloy gear.
The change from 14 1/2 to 20 degree took place somewhere around 1942, my '42 had a 20 degree fibre gear in it when I bought it with original 14093 miles on speedo.0 -
That is definitely the wrong gear to use with an alloy gear. You can tell by looking at the angle of the teeth, the proper gear is wider at the base and narrower at the top than this one. 150566 gear is for '36-'40 models inclusive.0
