Babbit not even --
Called Harkins machine about the rod bearings they did for me. Notice the offset of the babbit material in this bearing shell? One side is .050 and the other about .015. He said it was due to the Hudson quality of the rods. Just looks like the boring bar was not set up properly to me.

Would have to see the accompanying rod to render a judgment. Sometimes a rod and cap are mismatched somewhere along the line and something like this results.0

One has to clean out the old babbit, straighten the rod, place in the rod boring machine and center the inside with a dial indicator; then when bored it is perfectly round inside and save settings. Pour rod, place back in rod boring machine and cut. This is what I do to keep babbit centered. Repeat for next rod.

Looks like I need to find some one else to do babbit work! Very disappointed in this.0

thinking ahead to my next project. Has anyone used the Babbit Pot for their babbit work?

Maybe it's just me, but from his previous response to your post, you might want to contact Randy to see if he can do your next batch. Sounds like he knows what he is doing, and a Hudson guy to boot!0

I had checked with Randy the first time but his time line was way way out.
I'm going to check with my local machine shop to see if they will do the job after the babbit is poured and I get the rods back unfinished.0
