I have a 1954 Wasp and yesterday the Emergency brake broke. The emergency handle under the dash does NOT have any tension on it when I go to set the brake and it looks as tho the cable from the lever to the cable assembly is just hanging limp.

My immediate issue is that the passenger side rear brake now seems to be locking
up and and will not release.....sooooooo that brake is dragging and I can't move the car without the wheel being free.

Any recommendations as to how I can get that BRAKE free so I can move the car?

GUESS I WASN'T SPECIFIC ENOUGH...MY PASSENGER SIDE REAR BRAKE IS STUCK AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET IT RELEASED SO THAT I CAN MOVE THE CAR!!!

THANKS

TOM

  • If you think it's the rear cable, spray WD-40 on the outer side, then grab the cable by hand and shake it good, this should let it release so you can move the car. Walt.
  • Tom, While you're at you might want to check the springs on the release handle ratchet. If they go bad it's a bit of a pain but they can be replaced.
