Do any of you remember Walt Streeter who used to reside in Coweta, Oklahoma?
He died several years ago. He was an original Hudson character with many great stories. I always loved talking to him over the years. Does anyone have knowledge of what happened to his cars following his death? He had the one and only '53 Commodore 8 ever made and a '53 Super Wasp Coupe which was his "driver". Those were just 2 of his many cars. I would be interested to know what happened to those 2 vehicles.

  • Don't know about the guy you're looking for but there were more than one 53 Commodore 8's around. Although not official,Hudson would produce one if their dealer had a die hard customer who wanted a new 8 . Hudson did whatever it took to make a customer happy. The possibility of turning away a sale was not an option for an independent.

My understanding abut the '53 Commodore 8's is that they were left over '52's with '53 trim and model numbers (8C) on the door post. I've been looking for one for years!! LOL

Like everything else Hudson there is probably no records extant. I would imagine that the factory sent out a bulletin to dealers telling them that a '53 eight was available for customers who wanted one. Maybe someday I'll find that bulletin.
