Driver of the52 Hornet called me Tuesday from Carlisle, PA with overdrive problem and question. I presume he has it back on road after I spoke with him and Ken talked with a local mechanic, as we did not hear back from him.0

Wonder if they came up U S 11 thru the Shenandoa Valley. I see they went thru Carlilse, so maybe they did.
If so they were following the 1933 (or 1932) route that the Hudson and Essex-Terraplanes took on their hill climbing run. They did hill climbs in several places along what is now (or was before it got over-run by I-80, tho it's still there) U S 11. Did hill climbs in Chattanooga, Birmingham, I think there was one in Roanoke, and so on up the line.
Unlike today, where they would be trailered from hill to hill back then they simply ran the hill in question (as long as it had a road on it), then drive to the next one.
