Lighting circute, fuses or circute breaker? "37 Te

:unsure: Okay, I am wiring the headlights on my "37 Terraplane, there is a blown fuse. Has anyone replaced the fuses with circut breakers? Arnbie in Nevada

    Go with a dual headlight relay. Save yourself some timeaand trouble down the road. It also takes a load off the light switch and the dimmer switch. I have done this on my 37 and have been very happy and brighter lights are a nice bonus.

    I agree. By installing a circuit breaker you're doing nothing to deal with the root cause of the problem, which is miles of (possibly aging)wire, worn connectors and corroded switches that were never that-all good when they were new. A relay directs the power from near its source, directly to the lights. All that wiring and all those switches then merely direct the relay to send the current to the lights.

    I hid my relay behind the left dashboard panel, which is a great location because you can easily get to it and it's near the dash switches.

    Arnie, FWIW, when I've rewired old cars, Hudsons or whatever, I've used a discreetly located modern 4 fuse box which uses the blade type fuses. For headlights I'm a great believer in running them with relays to unburden the poor old light switch.

    Where do you get a 6V relay ?

    I picked up the 3 of mine on eBay it may take a few days for them to come around but all mine were NOS 6V units with a fuse or breaker as protection for the unit. they were not a lot of money because everyone seems to want 12v.
