Rare 52 Hornet with "302"
When ebay was started I doubt that the creators ever thought it would turn into a site that old car folks would go to just to get a laugh. I have to admit that in addtion to the cars I do enjoy reading the descriptions especially when the seller is as knowledgable about Hudsons as this one. This one just cracked me up.

It's that this seller only has 1/2 a clue as to what he's talking about, he must reside on another planet!0

....and grammar, syntax, punctuation etc :unsure:0

I think i have seen this hornet on Craiglist once before, if i remember correctly both sides of the car didn't have a straight piece of metal on them...........looked like something was drug down both sides of the car. (maybe he was trying to shoot the gap and missed) haha. The side they are showing is the good side too.0

"With a little work it has the potential to start."
Well, I would hope so! Talk about your low expectations. . .
Reminds me of a story told on Casey Stengel, long time manager of the Yankees. He was asked by reporters about two 20 year olds who had just been brought up from the minor leagues. He went on and on about Smith, his stats, etc., ending up by saying "In 10 years he has the potential to be a real star."
Reporter asked, "What about Jones?"
Casey thought a moment, then said, "Well, in 10 years, he has the potential to be 30."0 -
I especially liked the photos of the engine compartment...oh, wait...there weren't any...seems like if you were gonna bid on a car you'd want to be fairly sure it had a drivetrain...:P0

Is anyone going to ask this seller about the '41 coupe with factory modifications or are you just going to blow him off? You know that could be a factory leather interior in that '53 Hornet coupe.
Think you guys are being a little snobbish with the comments here. Not every Hudson owner (or hobbyist) got a wonderful education and younger people surely don't have the grammatical education of us seniors.
How many Hudson owners are NOT part of this forum because they still can't afford a computer and internet access and /or because they are semi-literate?0 -
StillOutThere, I think you need to ask this seller about his 41. It seems that you have the interest, and the desire to find out more. So go ahead and find out and if it is interesting, you should post it on the board.
What I thought was humorous about his posting was that fact that he stated "i know what i have " and yet I dont think he really does as evidenced by his use of 302 instead of 308, and commander instead of Commodore. Do you see the humor?
What I also thought was humorous was his statement about potential to start. Most folks who are posting about cars dont talk about potential to start, they talk about it being a good project or having potential for restoration. In many cases with an engine it either starts or not, all have a potential. Again do you see the humor?
To assume that there is snobbery involved was wrong on your part. We just find the things that he posted to be humorous. I would love to see the car, love to talk to him about the car but by no means would I be a snob to him. Guys like this are the salt of the earth and I would prefer to being with them over some stuff-shirt.
I look forward to your report on the 41.0 -
The cost of getting a car from potential to running; Go and dig a hole in the ground about 10 feet deep. Make it big enough to put a stepdown Hudson in and then start filling it up with MONEY! That should give an indication!0

Done waited too long. A knowing, astute buyer has got 8500.00 on it. Oh well, lost out on another one.0

One other humorous detail is that no one on the site pointed out that it is not a 52 but a 53. Hood scoop and no angled bars in the grill. Didnt even notice.0

OH RATS! But as P.T. Barnum said "There's one born every minute"!0

I just looked at this today and that was the first thing I noticed.
PS. I'm considering selling my '54 Hudson Hornet the one with the 325 Hudson Hemi
engine. Yes I was told that Hudson developed the first Hemi engine. It is an extremely rare 4 door sedan that raced at The new Hampshire International raceway 50 years before the track was built. I will be including in the sale all 4 rims and tires and an original steering wheel. My asking price for this rare one of a kind Hudson is only $100,000. LOL0 -
Man! That's a giveaway price for a car that's that rare! Gotta go count my nickels!0

From the looks of the grille on that "52" it is indeed a very rare 1952 - grille is a 53.

Ought to invite that seller to the National - he'd find out just how rare his "52" really is!!!!!!!!!
Of course with his spelling, etc, in the ad he probably couldn't find his way out of wherever he lives and probably couldn't find Oklahoma if it came up and bit him on the behind.

This reminds me of something that happened in the seventies. I was in a visit to a little village about a hundred miles from Momtreal and I saw a very plain 1952 Chevy at the gas station. It was clean but it was a plain jane 1952 Chevy. I talk to a few persons about the car in the afternoon and the rumor was: Oh! Some GM VIP's came to see him and offered him a brand new Cadillac for his car and he refused. It's so rare... Well, yes, I replied, in this village:whistle: ... Probably the owner, an old fox I imagine, put on that rumor so he could sometimes get a big price on his car...Michel.0

My mother told me it was not nice to make fun of others, but the posts regarding this story are hilarious.

Your mother was right. Ignorance is not a sin . . . but can certainly sometimes be very funny.0 -
