My 50C8 has a silver paint along the rocker and at the end of the panel into the rear fenders. This appears to be something more than just paint, perhaps having some type of chip resistant material. Anyone know if this is the case.

thanks

Did they have something like that from the factory/dealers back then?

Most modern sprayable undercoating is paintable when its dry...maybe the rockers were touched up at sometime and it was applied then... or overspray that was painted over from undercoating the wheel wells or underneath?

Can you take a picture and post it?

No this is the factory finish. The feel of the silver paint on the rockers is different than the upper area of the car. This is true on both sides.
  • It is not chip resistant paint, just simple silver. I used a Ford color (PPG DBU Urethane) color that is very close if not dead on. I don't have the code in front of me, but happy to send it to you if you want it.
  • The rocker paint was just a silver paint. smooth like the other painted surfaces
