I am in the process of installing the door windows and quarter windows. I would like to know if the fuzzy channel that goes inside of the division bar on our 54 Hollywood should be as long as the division bar or should it be as long as the pieces that I bought from Victor Z. Or how long should they be. What is the sequence to install the windows Thanks for yverybodys help Hudsonly Ray:woohoo:

The pieces should be as long as the division bar. THe division bar goes in first. You then Set the bottom of the glass into the glass channel, using new rubber and some adhesive. Then lower the glass into the door and connect the glass channel to the regulator. Then roll the window all the way down This will make it easier for you to install the new "fuzzy channel", sliding it down the glass equally on both sides. On the side of the door opposite the division bar, at the bottom of the metal channel, there is a hook. Your new "fuzzy channel" should engage that hook to hold it in place vertically. There is a metal stop that attaches to the bottom of the division bar to prevent the window from being lowered to far. Don't forget that.

When I did my 54 I kept the old channel to use as a pattern to bend the new channel into place. Hope you did the same. Bend the new channel very carefully or you will crimp it.

    Good luck,
    Doug

Hello Ray, trim the Division Bar channel to the same lenght as the original Div. bar. Follow the Instuctions for the Hollywood/Convertible div. bar I sent you. VicTor Z

Thanks VBictor. I seem to have lost the instructions that you sent me. I was wondering if the fuzzy channel that you sent me had to be longer it looked like I might have broke the original off .and was wondering if it needed to be longer.
The fuzzy channel is the piece that the window frame slides in. If I am not making my self clear. I was going to glue the fuzzy channel on with windshield black glue.
I used the glue to install the roof and door and quarter insulation. worked like a charm. Ray

RE:Window felt strips on stepdowns No problem Vic,I posted it here for all to use.It is however, one of those things you do over and over and finally kinda get the hang of it.The front doors of the stepdown cars are the hardest. You have to make all the pieces[catwhisker-division bar installed in the window channel, weatherstrip 90 degree on back the correct length&fit],then install the vent glass and frame, verify that it is all going to match up when assembled then remove the vent wing and frame, put in the catwhisker piece-riveted to the door frame, then install the door glass**best time to replace the glass is NOW**-with the door glass in place,THen the vent wing assembly, and lastly the weatherstrip channeling around the glass at the top--which was in place down inside the door, but was pulled out at the top to allow the vent-wing assembly to go in---shove it into place making sure to tuck the edges under the edge of the division bar post[you had saved the pattern and made your new one from].This is very time consuming,BUT when your done,"A"the glass won't break and rattle anymore, and"B"the door closes so nice and quite. This is really enjoyed when riding in your Hudson driving down the road and everything is sealed up and QUITE!!!!!:cool: Category: Hudson
