Brake Pedal/Floor Pan Question

Well, I finally found a donor 52 Hornet with a 308 Twin H and I am preping for the transplant to my 53. Having some trouble removing the floor pan due to the brake pedal. Cant unscrew the brake pedal without hitting the steering column, and cant take the floor pan out with the brake pedal in!! I know it sounds like a stupid problem- just take the steering column out, right! QUESTION- Is there any way to unscrew the brake pedal with out removing the steering column or cutting the floor pan??????????

    You don't unscrew the pedal. It's pressed into a splined hole. First remove the nut on the end, then press out the shaft through the splined hole. They do make a little puller for this, but I don't have one, and have always managed to get along without it.

    If this has never been done, you may have to use a little heat carefully, but whatever you do, don't mess up the threads on the end of the shaft by driving it out.

    just got it! little bit of heat, little bit of wd40, and a little shimmy and it came right out!!!

    That's good advice - don't mess up the splines. I did on my first Hudson (way back when). I put it back together and it lasted until my first hard stop. The pedal swivled around when I hit it so no brakes. Unfortunately the car in front of me had good brakes and I ended up with a smashed-up front end.
