Need some help with Stepdown door weatherstrip
Hey all!
I could use a little assistance from you guys. I'm trying to figure out how / where to install my new weatherstripping in my 49 Brougham.
The car did not have any existing weatherstrip when I bought it, so I don't have anything to reference.
I bought the following from K-Gap:
Front door pillar Vertical

Door bottom

Over door weatherseal

and Door edge seal

Can you guys help me figure out where to install this stuff? Does the weatherstripping go on the door or on the body's door opening?
It would be a great help if someone who has a weatherstripped car could take a few photos of the door opening / door with the weatherstripping installed so I could use that for reference.
Here are a couple of photos of the areas I need:
door opening rear

door rear

door opening front

door bottom

Thanks so much!
Keith

Keith, take your K-Gap catalog and look at the illustration on the back page. Key the #'s on you K-Gap material to the illustration and you will see where on the door each type of weather stripping goes. You also can call Dany for specific tips.0

Thanks Richard. I know where the weatherstrip goes, for the most part, but I need to know which way it is oriented, whether it goes on the door or door opening, etc.
I've already called K-Gap and left a message. I was hoping for some photos to reference in the mean-time.

I'll send you pictures later tonight. The battery needs charging on my camera.0

Here are the pictures. Unfortunately the black weatherstrip does not show up well on a gray car. But maybe it will help. The Front door pillar Vertical is shown in the first picture. The over door weatherseal glues to the body as shown in the first and third picture. The Door edge seal glues to the front edge of the door. The Door bottom glues to the bottom of the door. There is also a S seal that glues to the door as shown in the second picture.0

Thanks for the photos, they help. I'm going to try and tackle this tomorrow!0

Your pics have helped quite a bit. It looks like the "Door Edge Seal" must go along the leading edge of the door, in the channel that seals up against the back inside of the front fender?
Also, is there a possibility of a photo of the door bottom seal installed? Does it glue to the vertical flange portion of the door (the backside of the door skin) or to the horizontal portion of the interior door skin?0 -
Thanks for the help, I was able to get the door edge vertical weatherstripping in and the over the door weatherstrip as well.
I still have to install the door bottom weatherstripping, and was hoping someone could snap a photo of the bottom of the door so I can be sure to orient my weatherstripping in the correct location.0 -

The bottom seal attaches to the vertical wall of the door. That way it only comes into contact right before the door closes.0 -
Sorry Hudsonguy, sent email to you, should of sent to hudsoncustom.0
