Last weekend we had the Shannon's Eastern Creek car show, report of 1850 cars on display, you name it, it was there, our club had 25 cars on show, Essex-Terraplane-Hudson and AMC vehicles. sorry no pictures.

I have attended this show for the last 25 or so years in various Hudson/AMC products, and seen the change in vehicles from very early veteran to late classics, a great day is assured.

Mike McDonald from Canada was there on the day, he was on a tour of Australia and it just happened that he was able to come visit us, I had arranged for Mike to be picked up from his hotel and be driven to the show in a 1939 118 Hudson coupe, left hand drive, so he may have felt some what at home in the car only difference for Mike would have been driving on the left side of the road.

Our next BIG car show is held in the Central Business District of Sydney on Australia day (26th January), around 1200 cars should be on show there, the block off some of the main streets, you park rear to kerb set up your tables and chairs and have another great day, our club tales in a small b-b-q and we have an early breakfast in a nearby by park, across the road from our parked cars.

Great to welcome this person this way, in particular in such a nice car !
I took several collegues around Paris with my own car (much better than these "one dollar" tourist traps). I was also taken around when arriving somewhere:) :)

    Les,
We arrived home on Wednesday night and was able to get our 30 Essex Roadster ready on Thursday for our annual tour which took place in P.E.I. (Friday to Sunday). The car worked fine for its first real test in 35 years. We did about 400 kms. Thank you for making all the arrangements to take me to the Eastern Creek Car Show. It was great fun driving in Pat and John's 39 Hudson Coupe. I was like a kid in a candy store at the show and was pleased to see that most of the vehicles are stock. The run around the track in Tony's Essex Roadster was a blast. It was great to be welcomed by such a caring and friendly club. If there is anything I can do to return the favour please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.

    Thanks Again
    Mike McDonald

Thanks for the thumbs up Mike, glad you had a great day and enjoyed your ride in the '39 coupe. Sounds like your run in the Essex was uneventful and it behaved itself.

Sorry I could not spend more time with you while you were in Sydney, don't know if I told you, but, I was just a a couple of week after having radiation, and I had to stay close by rest rooms etc as the radiation does funny things to your insides and you often have to make a quick dash to the loo.

Most or nealy all cars at the show have to be fairly original, especially if they are on our restricted registration which only allows you to drive them on your own clubs organised outings, you can get a special permit from the club to drive them to other clubs outings if an invitation has been received from the other club.
The cost to register our cars on that restriced use is only $53.00 per year including personly third injury insurance compared to something like $1,000 for everyday use.

Once again, glad you enjoyed your stay in our beautiful country and hope everybody was kind and helpful to you.

    Les.
