Number One With A Bullet!

Sam, thats because as you well know Hudson owners are genius's I even carry a card stating this fact. And in fact this site leads all forums on Classic Cars. It goes without saying that we really are the "Dream Team" As far as I am concerned there's two kinds of car owners. Hudnuts who drive em' and those who wish they did. Of course all said in the most humble way possible in keeping with the festive season.0

I remember when the chat room started operation, back around '98, early '99 HET was leading everybody so far ahead we were out of sight!!! The total hits per day was phenomenol. You could find at least 5 Hud-nuts on at any time literally 24/7. However, Classicar crashed, wives suddenly discovered hubby wasn't on the computer and now the chat room is virtually empty.
Sad.

Where can I get one of those cards? I didn't get my mailing . . . was there a list? Was I supposed to make a call? . . . wait a minute . . . if I don't know, maybe I shouldn't have one, afterall. I'm calling MENSA immediately.
SamJ-
It certainly helps that this is the official forum for the HET. I don't know if other car- make clubs use this site the way that HET-ers do, but it is kinda amazing, isn't it? When I first started with this forum, I thought I hit the Hudson jackpot!
And, as far as the "Chat" goes, it's odd, but I've never even used it. It's PM-ing and e-mail for me. This, from someone who checks this forum at least 5 or 6 times a day and posts about 2.5 times daily. Also, don't tell anyone, but I certainly hope that I'm not alone in the endeavor, I have to admit that I've read every post. The majority of the info here is incredibly helpful and useful for a newbie like me on a fact-finding mission.

Go to the Main page, and see all of the forums, Hudson leads everyone, no surprises, I think that we should rename the Classic Cars forum "Hudsons are number one yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and always forum"
It isn't even close...
kind of the same feeling Teague and Thomas must have had in the early 50's...0 -
There are literally hundreds of dedicated GM, Ford, Mopar, Jeep and other sites on the internet. It shouldn't be a big surprise to anyone that the numbers in their areas here are so low. Because this is essentially the "official" Hudson gathering spot, obviously the numbers are going to be tremendously higher for the Hudson forums, etc. Even the Packard, Kaiser, and Studebaker folks have other forums (some are sponsored by their respective national clubs and/or chapters!) have other places to congregate. So, is it really THAT big of a surprise the numbers are what they are here??? IMO, no.0

How dare you spread such rumors that there are other car sites out there with more activity than us LOL we are the best damn car group in the world and we're coming to a town near you.......
RL I have put you on the list for a card. Takes me a while to engrave the platinum...0 -

That being said I LOVE this forum and spend most of what little free time I have posting out here because it is the HUDSON spot!

Dan I am sorry to say you now qualify for the Hudson Addicts Help Association HAHA. Your prolific posting and extreme Hudson project has forced us in HAHA to draft you into our large and quickly growing organization. It has been chartered and now is run by the All-knowing Hudson Alliance. aha. We are those sometime referred to as the incurable hudsonites. Alas there are several anonymous founding members that don't even know of there own membership but this is one of the charming factors of aha. So I beseech you continue on your every addictive path. Build those Hudsons!!! Post those posts. (redundant) and talk to anyone about Hudsons until their eyes glaze over. And. One day you too will reach the exalted position of unknowing membership in aha.

I am in the process of rodding my 50 Pacemaker. I do not need the flathead, tranny, or drivemaster unit. Its a matching number motor, but isn't going to do me much good. Anyone want to make an offer? I'm a diet pepsi addict! lol I'd like to see it go to someone who could really use it (maybe its their first car and they don't have alot of money) and isn't just stock piling them. It supposedly (according to the guy I bought it from) has 2 or 3 broken head bolts (they have been left in the head so I'm not sure which ones are busted off. It has brackets for a GM alternator and a/c compressor (also have. but probably no good) and the aftermarket a/c unit inside. Car sat non-running for 10 years, but in a garage. I am keeping the dash switch for the drivemaster tough.....I'll use it to operate something.
Just as a side question.......I have rust thru on the front splash of the front fenders were they turn down behind the front bumper. Can one get replacement pieces for the fenders or do you have to repair the fenders as is? I see that there seems to be a different piece to the lower front section of the front bumpers, but mine was repainted and the seam was filled in.

If you've gotta have 639 posts to qualify for HAHA, I may never get there! Aren't there other redeeming qualities I might possess to be considered for membership? How about merit, alone? I gotta lot of that. Even got a badge or two for it 'bout a hundred years ago. I mean forget AHA. I'll probably never make it . . . I'm still learning WAY too much on a daily basis . . . if I knew it all, my head would explode or something and then I'd be no good to anyone except to the movie industry as a prop. But HAHA, now there is a goal I could meet! I mean, we even got a picture of Doc in our Christmas cards! And I coulda fried that transmission all on my own . . . with no outside help . . . that's gotta qualify for sumpin'.

I know you probably want to sell the whole kit-n-kaboodle, but I could really use the brackets for the GM alternator and if you have double pulleys, could use them as well. Interested in parting it out?

***You have a Hudson your Dad or Parent owned.
***You have been known to sit and talk to your Hudson by yourself more than once and have been caught and made excuses as to what you were doing. (me too many times)
***You are building or have built a Hudson that is so cool it causes ones jaw to drop or you get fan mail from other aspiring HAHA members and You still own it.

No replacement pieces that I know of - I did see 2 of the lower valance pieces on ebay a while back. The body and fender book I have show the pieces available seperately but they were spot welded to the car.
If I had an english wheel and planishing hammer I'd make some up for you! But alas those tools will have to wait until I get a place with a shop.
Send me some pictures of the rust areas and maybe I can make some suggestions on how to go about fixing it - unless you had someone to do it already.

Well, rambos, other than you and me, it gets lonely here after 12:00 AM in any time zone....
as far as the pieces that jsrail is talking about, they are somewhat available, BUT...
and this is where it gets fun with hudson, the pieces are as someone said, pacemaker only, and to boot, I think 50 only. That makes it a bit harder to find.
Unless they are really bad, you might want to try and repair them.
The drivemaster switch is fun to keep on the dash, I let my little girl activate the supermatic switch (same difference) on the 50, even though it doesn't do anything, its kind of fun for her...
All of the supermatic stuff is off of my car, I had to make room for twin h. But I kept it, who knows what might happen in the future with the car.0 -
I spoke with Al Saffrahn this morning and he said the supermatic was OD with the Drivemaster. Here is a pic of the rear of my tranny......does this make sense to anyone?

Screwdrivers, 3" wide putty knifes, and the picture shows my favorite one...still with some undercoating on it for posterity! The hook part comes in handy for crevices and even the rounded inside portion was able to get some use.
Make sure you have a good set of mechanics gloves because if you use flame to soften the undercoating then the tools (and surfaces) tend to get a bit 'warm-ish'!
Really all you have to do is soften it - I think Eastwood Tools and other sell a sprayable "undercoating remover" - I've never used it and I cheaped out and did it the old-fashioned manual way with FIRE and MUSCLE!0
