radial tires for a Hudson Hornet - need advise
I want to put Radial Tires on my 53 Hudson Hornet. This is regularly driven.
What size to you recommend?
I have 7.10-15 bias plys on now, with 3" wide walls.
Thinking about buying either (From Coker):
BF Goodrich or Coker 2 3/4 Inch Whitewall - 225/75R15 OR
American Classic 2 3/4 Inch Whitewall - 215/75R15
Thoughts??? I'm leaning towards to the BF Goodrich or Coker?

I have Black Diamond 225/75R/15s on my '52. They are great, but a tight fit getting the spare into the trunk well. It will fit, though. The ride and handling are terrific. I have only heard tales of woe about Cokers.

I got my Diamond Back Radials from Hudson Dave a few years back and they have performed flawlessly.

Stick with the 215 you will be happier0

Whatever the size, I'd go with Diamondback over Coker any time. Have Diamondbacks on my '47 C8 sedan and my Hornet ragtop. Smooth ride is amazing, and it didn't take a ton of weight to balance tham as it did with Cokers.0

are you going to sell your used bias plys? if so i am interested if they are still in usable shape.0

i'm gonna high jack this for a minute,,,sorry
i know this might open a BIG can of worms---but i been told NOT to use our stock Hudson rims with radial tires,,,,0 -
You will get opinions bolth ways on this. I have a lifelong habit of driving high milage older vehicles. Only had one wheel failure -1965 Chrysler New Yorker and it had Cooper Bias Belted tires. The bead ring split away from the wheel due to metal fatigue.
Last Hudson I ran radials on was a 1951 Super 6 ,put radial truck tires on it. Ran them about 15,000 miles .
Cant beat the ride and handling on a wet road, no more following the cracks in the highway,

I have 225/70/15s on my 53 Hornet, they are on dodge police car wheels, and fit just fine, I have a set 235/70/15 BFG silvertown WWW radials from Coker but I am apprehensive about using them as I had problems with them on my 60 Cadillac, but it could have been the wheels. I am running diamondback classics on my Caddy now.0

I'm running 215 70 on 6.5" rims in the rear (tight fit) and 205 75 on the front (5.5" rims).0

I am running the original ’50 rims on my C8. Sandblasted and powder coated and have not had any issues running Diamond Backs.0

Thanks guys. Just ordered a set of 225-75R15 WWW from Hudson club member "Dave" - Diamond Backs. Doing full brake job now.0

Usable shape, yes. One is almost new (it was my spare). The others have about 14,000 miles. You can have them after my new ones come in, if you pick them up or ?? I'm in Roscoe, IL.0
