overdrive shift rail switch?

Any body know if some of the 2 lever overdrives were built with no shift rail switch?

Ford dropped the shift rail switch after 49, it wasn't necessary.

I believe Hash models did not have it either, but could be mistaken there. It is not shown in the '55 wiring diagram.
