  • Did you talk to the guys over at Bill and Charles they had lots of rings sets. I still see them selling stuff on eBay.

that's a good idea, i will give them a call on mon morning. i don't see anything listed i can use, but i will give them a call and see if they have any.
  • If worse comes to worse and you come up with a set of non pin-milled rings, I can put the slot in for you.

thanks to everyone for the help. i think i have finally got a set. they are for a 3 13/16 bore, but he said standard to 0.19" over. i have not seen a set of rings with that much adjustment. i can fit each one in the bore to see what they shake out to be. also there was a question on the thickness of one of the oil rings. he said one size was listed but my 308 has 2 different thicknesses. i will just have to see when they get here what they look like. either way i feel lucky to have found them.
i need to check over the manual to see the ring gap specs. thank you Mr Maas for the offer to cut a groove in the rings.

well i back to square one! got the rings today and looks like they are for a packard 320 v8. i was so annoyed i could have bit one of them in two! i have exausted every lead exept the otto's engine works i guess i will call them next week. i am not doing any grinding in the shop till i get this back together since i don't want to get a bunch of junk inside the engine. if anyone else has any leads feel free to throw them my way. may have to have un pined style cut like mr maas suggested. i wonder what to do about the other oil ring they are 2 thicknesses on the pinned style so i will be short one?

I am sure that you have checked with Eggy Machine out in California? They were available when I did my car. I did not go with them because I wanted six pistons that were within .005 mils weight of each other. Makes ballancing the engine much more fun. I went with blank pistons, machined them myself and put slotted racing rings in them. Was very happy with the results....

Have you checked with Dale Cooper, I'm sure he will have them. Unfortunately he doesn't have email, but his website is www.hudsonmotorcarco.com and his phone No. 513-821-6200
  • Have you tried Northwestern Auto Supply in Michigan? I found a std set about a month ago from them no problem.

i did talk to eggy machine in california a while back. they said they would have to make them, i thought. i may have to go that route but at the time i thought machining them would take a while and i could just pick up a nos set. but if i run out of options waiting on that may not take as long as waiting on something to turn up.
i have tried dale cooper and he didn't have any of pined rings.
i will give northwestern auto supply a call on monday. thank you all for your help.
