Progress report

I undertook the task of opening up the dash today. Took about 7 hours .... phew!

I took out all of the gauges and even went as far as taking off the metal frames and the plastic covers. Cleaned the whole lot out, repainted the inner parts to protect against rust, and put the lot together again.

Some photos attached

Spedometer backside:

Temp and Fuel gauge:

Spedometer:

Dashboard Clock:

Cleaned dash components:

Oil and Charge gauge:

Back of spedo unit:

Cleaned the frame with 1200 grit sandpaper - Looks great:

Dewald

Looking good DeWald - persistance and patience do produce great results.

If you haven't been to the online library there are several 1940 items that might be helpful to you - shop manual, parts manual, bulletins, some 1940 service magazines and so forth. Online library is at:

    http://hetclub.org/burr/lithomepage.htm

Gregg Maroney has material for 1940 that I don't, yet, on his web site at:

    www.hudsonterraplane.com/tech/tech_index.htm#40

Eventually both sites will be combined, hopefully in the near future.

    Good luck,
