PAINT AND BODY SHOP IN SO CAL RECOMMENDATIONS?

I am looking for any recommendations for a good paint and body shop in So Cal that is familiar with Hudsons. My 50 Commodore Coupe has been at a body shop in Ventura, Ca. for longer than I care to admit and he refuses to work on it any more. The work that has been done on it is very good and he hasn't said he won't work on it, it's that nothing more has been done to it within the last year. The body work is almost completed, just needs a few more changes and it's ready for paint and I'd like to find a place that knows Hudson's so I can get my car back on the road!!

I agree with Ken. Most shops don't want to bother with older cars. I found a guy that works in a local shop to do my car in his personal garage behind his house. He was pretty quick, and only asked for money when he was finished. When it was time for final paint, he took it to his shop and used the booth on the weekend. He charged $40hr plus materials. You might want to ask some of the guys that work at a shop if they do this kind of work on the side0

A number of us have had good luck with Tim's Paint & Body in Escondido, CA. It is 3 hrs south of Ventura. He does do insurance work and the classic cars that he does can take a little more time, but he is very conscientious and he does a good job. I imagine there is someone in LA who does good work?

The shop that I have my car at is a one man operation and actually does not do much in the way of insurance work. Most of what he does is by word of mouth referrals and does not advertise. He does a lot of Porsche cars, muscle cars and has done many classic cars and Hot Rods but I know has a lot of "buddies" he does work for. His work is excellent but my car has somehow managed to go to the "land of the lost" in his shop.
I will give Tim's Paint & Body a call on Monday and test the waters. Taking a bit more time doesn't bother me so much as long as they will eventually work on it.

Tell Tim that the guy with the Terraplane recommended him! He knows who I am. Good Luck!0

A chapter member in Ventura has a Hornet going thru paint & body now, either in Ventura/Saticoy/Santa Paula; He has had several cars doe by this fellow, but I know nothing of his work. I have the shop phone number, if you'd like to PM me, I'll send it along.
