Sad news from Down Under.

Not sure how many of you guys knew Clive Gibson. It is with much sadness I advise that Clive Passed away 5th November 2011 aged 90.

Clive was an amazing man, if anybody knew Hudsons in Australia it was Clive, he had a remarkable memory , if you ever wanted to know something, you would ring Clive and he would be able to tell you off the top of his head, he had it all stored there.Clive was a mechanic in his early days for Frank Kleinig of Hudson racing fame here in Australia.

I have fond memories of Clive when we used to go out on car runs, he drove his 1938 Hudson 8 cylinder and I in the 1942 Hudson, when we got close to his home, he would pull to the side of the road and ask, "Can I drive your '42 the rest of the way home".of course you can, he did not like to drive it in traffic being LHD.

    it's always a sad day when someone with a lot knowledge passes on, it will be gained back,
    but you still have your memories of him..so he still lives on in you & other that he has touched,

    I did not know Clive, but my friend Rudy Bennett did and he shared stories about his friend Clive with me. Several years ago there was much discussion about Clive and it was then that Rudy asked me to post several pictures of the aftermaket Head and intake manifold Clive developed for the Hudson wide block 6 engines. Mr. Gibson was also well know as a racer of Hudson engined cars includeing those using the venerable splasher 8s.

    Two of the pictures posted are of a super charged Hudson 308 equipped with the GIBSON head and manifold shown in the other pictures. That engine is installed in a boat!

    I tried to find a link to those previous posts, but was unsuccessful. So I have reposted some pictures of Clives Handiwork here.

    Condolences to Clive's realtives and the chaps who were his friend and car mates.

    Thanks Big Heart, for the Pictures. Cleave wrote many letters many years back to me and they were all very well written. As soon as he found out i had one of his heads he really was a big help. Some of the letters i still have.
    I sold the 2-piece head to Randy Maas and he still has it.
    The 308 engine that i bought back then had the Head, the Gibson Binks in take manifold and 2 inch intake valves but had a crack in # 2 cylinder so ,i diss the engine and used the parts in another eng. that i was Racing in a hudson Jet.
    Clive would always close his letters with this statement, I wish I had more time to write to you or talk to you one day as,I have lots of speed tricks to do to the Long-8 engine,that would make it a flyer.
    I am very proud of him and know that he is with all of those Good Ol Hudson men and Ladies that has since departed this Great land of ours. Hudsonly to all Rudy B.
