Treadle Vac bleeding
I've installed the brake lines and a rebuilt Treadle Vac booster on my '54 and am ready to bleed. The '53-'54 Mechanical Procedure Supplememt merely states to bleed the brakes with the engine off. However, I've read elsewhere that the master cylinder, because of it's shape, is supposed to be bled first on the bench to remove all air from the reservoir. But wouldn't air be admitted every time you refill? There is no bleed valve on the master cylinder (that I can find) but I am using a dual feed fitting and I guess I could put a bleed valve on it. Any suggestions, tips, advice?

What they mean is to mount the maste cylinder on the bench , say in your vice. Put a fitting and short hose on the discharge line or lines. And run these up and into the fill hole. Then fill the unit with fluid and push the piston in and out slowly to gently run fluid thru the cylinder. Then you can install itand bleed as normal,
