Hudson Collection being sold
Several cars from the collection of Herbert Bell, Gainesville GA, are being offered for sale. Prices have been set somewhat high, but are likely open for negotiation. All cars are nice; some haven't been run for a few years so will need old fuel removed, etc. The '49 C8 convertible and the "Miss Daisy" car are ready to go.

Is the Jetliner one of those that Herb bought brand new and practically never drove?0
-
Jon, the Jetliner is the one Herb preferred to drive, so it's got somewhere around 50,000 miles on it. But it really looks great, and as you'll recall it's all optioned up ... just about everything, including "continental" tire on the back. It was the Super Jet that he bought at the same time (early '55) and didn't drive much ... has about 1500 miles on it. It was sold a few weeks ago along with the '53 coupe.0

Where did the '53 H Cp go?0

When did Mr. Bell pass? Having read a number of articles about him and his collection over the years, I've often wondered about what would happen to his Hudson collection. Kinda sad to see it broken up. Hopefully, his and his cars history will be preserved and passed on.

Mr. Bell is still living, age 95, but has serious dementia and is not able to recognize family members or friends. The family has waited until the cars could be sold without his being concerned about it, and he's beyond that point.
Arkie, the '53 coupe went to a gentleman in TN whom I'm not familiar with. He also bought the low mileage (1500 miles) Super Jet and the Pacer wagon. He had long ago asked to be given first right of refusal if the coupe were to be sold. That request was honored and he bought the car.0 -
Thanks for posting this park. Also thanks for introducing me to Herb a few years ago. . I took a picture of my buddy "Mac" with Miss Daisy and I am sure I left some drool on the convertible. Herb was a true Southern gentleman.I would give my left one to have that conv. Heck at my age I'd give both!:cheer:0

Thanks Park for the info. Fran and I got to know Herb and Dottie back at Docs Apple blossom Meet in 1991. I had a funny story to share regarding " Daisy" an the infamous Hemmings ad for the First Annual Atlantic City Convention Center Auction "featuring" the 1948 Hudson as seen in Driving Miss Daisy. Well I, as well as others, assumed that the Hudson was up for auction. So, my wife and I drove, in a snow storm in Febuary from Long Island, down to Atlantic City intending to bid to win. Surprise, there was Daisy all by herself roped off and NOT for auction. If any of you attended the Front Royal meet that year you might remember Herb apologizing to all that were misinformed. Fran and I had dinner with Herb and his wife and had a good laugh. Man, I remember it like it was yesterday. Ron0
