    Very cool!

    Interesting to note that the 39 had been converted to sealed beam by the time the first 3 pictures had been taken, which appear to have been taken quite some time ago.

    Also noticed that the car has a floor shift. It makes you wonder if the original owner ordered the car that way since 39 was the first year of the column shift.

    What parts are you looking for?

    Neat looking project. I love the 39's. I also find it interesting that it has a floor shift. It's the first 39 that I've seen this way. Do you know any of it's history? keep us posted with pictures as the project moves along.

    The floor shift was on the car because the column shift had gotten all wallered out. It was a column shift when new. And the sealed beam headlight conversion is long since gone. Those were about the ugliest things I ever saw.

    Hi, How are you set for a wooden header for your 39 convertible top? Jon Battle is testing the waters for a builder to make several for those's of us that need new ones. Please let us know if you're interested. They would fit 37 to 39 convertibles.

    Gene Davis built one for my car several years ago. It's a perfect match for the original. Thanks for asking though

    Arkie, have you had a new top made for the convertible? Who did the work? If you have a name please pass it on.

    I'm not ready for the top just yet, but it will be made by Chris Davis when the time is right. The front header was done by his dad Gene.

    In photo #27 , I'm curious to know there are no supports or braces in the door openings once it is off the frame?
    I've seen convertables being worked on without doors and off the frame with these supports and braces.I was told it is to stop the body from distorting or twisting so that the doors will fit proply when reassembling.

    Just wondering

    Any comments??

    Temporary supports would be necessary if the body were going to be turned over or moved very far.
