Looking for a side mount antenna for the 37 Terraplane PU. Does anyone repro this type?

You may already know this, but the original-type antenna was a cable stretched back and forth between brackets mounted underneath the runningboards. Actually, I have a side-mount antenna on mine simply because I couldn't get the runningboard antenna to give me much reception, but in the end that may have been my radio's fault. Apparently they worked (after a fashion) back in '37!

Anyway, there is no repro because there was no "factory" side mount antenna to pattern it after.

No! I didn't know that about the factory antenna--
Always something new to learn. This cab has the holes for a side mount antenna that was installed. The other cab I have has the same side mount holes in it as well.

Seems to me I read, probably a bulletin issued sometime in the 1930's, where you could order a vehicle with a side mount antenna - to be installed by the dealer.

Might be something in the service magazines in the online library -

I also had a side mount antennea on my 37 coupe. I got it that way , factory radio accessory. No indication of ever having a running board antennea.
My antennea had a red ball on top that matched the hood ornament.
I always assumed it was a Hudson Accessory.

I was told that the running board antennas were designed to help eliminate static generated by the overhead streetcar electric wires in the cities. Sure makes sense.
