Stepdown Brake Adjustment
The Hudson Procedures manual calls for adjusting the rear brakes until the wheels will barely turn, then backing off 14 clicks??? In the past, I've just used "standard" procedure... tighten, then relax just enough for free movement.
Does anyone actually apply this recommended procedure?
Is this somehow tied into the "failsafe" mechanical brake backup system?
Need an expert opinion.

14 clicks works great for me.If you haven't yet, take the time to adjust the anchor pin as per the Hudson manual. I love my stepdown brakes!0

I agree with Twin-H. Also, pay attention to the secondary brake adjustment. If it is not adjusted properly its possible to be braking with the secondary brakes (rear brakes) only and not being able to push brake peddle far enough or hard enough to activate the hydrolic pressure to the wheel cylinders.
I had hydrolic failure on my Hudson and the secondary brake system did a much better job stopping than I thought it would. But 100% better when the hydrolics work.
It's to bad the Hudsons secondary system is not mandatory on all cars. I also had a hydrolic failure with my Sons 64 El Camino. Result; no brakes, crashed, and a very angry son with Dad.
Take the whole system seriously. The Hudson Procedure Manual was not written to be second guessed.
Have a good drive stop safely.

If you're not happy with how the adjustment is coming out, maybe you should consult Walt's books on the subject.0
