Would you agree this car is worth $4000 delivered in Los Angeles??

I can get this for under $4000 delivered to my door in LA. Seems like a good deal if the car is as described. Any comments before I finalize the offer? Niels

It is difficult to see much detail from the photos. It almost looks like the driver side is in primer and the grill appears to be out. It seems like a good price based on the description and overall condition though.
my $.02

The price is reasonable IF the body is in pretty good shape. That rear frame rail rust is the thing to watch out for! I wonder if some good-hearted and impartial H-E-T member in the Missouri area would be willing to go over and give the car a once-over (especially looking for frame rot)? Maybe treating him and his wife to dinner would be an inducement....Hudson people can be had cheap, LOL!0

I would be cautious and get the car checked out by someone who knows stepdowns. One interpretation of the description and the 'legal stuff' is:-
I say this car is pretty good, but I have no responsibility or liability for the accuracy of that statement0 -
I'd admit I'd like to see some close up pictures before forking over the dough - but I think you guys are being a little too cautiously critical on this one...
4k for a runner that looks complete along with a decent looking interior and shows no tell-tale outward signs of rust (door jambs look clean - can't see any rust stains or spots on the quarters or rockers in the pics available) is a fair and reasonable price.
Seems to me the guy is giving an fair assessment of the car and openly states in the listing it is "primer grey"
Don't forget not long ago a certain "primer grey" chopped 2dr Hudson that was not complete and had questionable work done (and not original drivetrain) sold for 16k - and there is no way in Hades that 2dr car was worth 12k more even though I am comparing a 2dr to this 4dr!
If I had 4k and a line on the car - I'd pull the trigger!0 -
Better do it before he changes his mind. Even if some of the sheet metal frame needs fixing it's only sheet metal. Cut some cardboard templates and have your local tin knocker make em up and weld em in.0

I think I m going to ask him for a couple photos of the interior, the engine and the trim that is not on the car (he says he has all the parts). The guy says the original interior is in great shape with the exception of the drivers side passenger door. Headliner is still good.
I'm thinking that a 54 Hornet sedan with a claimed 54,000 original miles with a nice original interior could really make a good $8 to $12,000 car with a quality and correct period color paint job. We'll see if this pans out.0 -
With transportation costs around $800-$1000 for that distance, you're looking at a $4K car w/free shipping, or a $3K car w/$1K shipping, whichever way you want to look at it. Running car. shipped, might be a decent deal!0

my best bid so far is $770 for shipping...0

Looks good and for 4K, you can't beat it. If you're looking to re-sell, I'd definately go for it. I think you're right, some TLC and a little money invested to get it a better driver, you can turn a profit.

Go for it. I think it's probably a good buy. I got my '54 Hornet Sedan last summer from a guy in San Francisco for $4600 with no rust but a very poor interior. The bonus was a completely rebuilt drivetrain by Al Saffrahn. Equitable trade but as Patrick said, you're paying $3000 plus transportation.0
